Swiss label Intakt has announced that it will be launching its own festival in London next year. The festival will run from the 15th to the 27th of April 2017.
On its opening-day, bassist and improv pioneer Barry Guy will be celebrating his 70th birthday with a show with his London Jazz Composers Orchestra at Kings Place. The event will mark the ensemble’s first UK performance in over 15 years.
The festival will then relocate to The Vortex in Dalston, North London. Further details regarding the line-up will be unveiled at a later date. However, Intakt has already mentioned that artists such as pianists Aki Takase, Irène Schweizer and Alexander von SchIippenbach, drummer Louis Moholo-Moholo, saxophonist Ingrid Laubrock, and violinist Mark Feldman will all be “in extremely close attendance.”
