In 2002, guitar virtuoso Lee Ritenour celebrated many of the influences that shaped his distinctive and versatile music aesthetic on Rit’s House. The album featured versions of songs covering a wide range of styles and genres. These included a rendition of “Party Time,” a funky piece by Lee Morgan, in celebration of one of the key hard bop musicians of the ’60s. The song had originally been included on The Procrastinator, released in 1978, eleven years after the trumpeter’s untimely death.
