The 2016 Kaiser Permanente San Jose Jazz Winter Fest has announced its line-up. The festival will include more than 25 concerts from February 25 through March 8.
Artists included in the lineup are the John Scofield/Joe Lovano Quartet, Regina Carter, Delfeayo & Ellis Marsalis Quartet, Bria Skonberg, Jackie Ryan and many more.
Bruce Labadie, San Jose Jazz artistic and festival director, said “”In our sixth year, San Jose Jazz’s Winter Fest continues to attract top national jazz talent, and this year’s festival has the most prominent artists and more shows than ever before. The urban nature of the event, spread throughout downtown San Jose and fit amidst the Cinequest Film Festival offers a fun winter week to inexpensively explore new and familiar talent.”
The festival will also present the Jazz Beyond series- Co-curated with local production house Universal Grammar, the series will present young stars pushing the boundaries of jazz, soul and hip-hop. The festival’s Next Gen performances will showcase top student jazz ensembles in the region and offer open masterclasses.
Winter Fest 2016 encompasses the South First Street arts district in downtown San Jose, and for the first time expands to Palo Alto. With new performance venues, bars and restaurants joining many existing cultural institutions, Winter Fest 2016 showcases San Jose’s vitality as an arts mecca.
