Koki Nakano

Ululō (NO FORMAT!)

Koki Nakano’s fourth studio album, Ululō, out October 25 via NO FORMAT!, is a deep exploration of desire and raw emotion. With striking emotional directness, Nakano blends this intensity with the conceptual depth of his previous works. The title Ululō, which means “howl” or “cry” in Latin, conveys a profound sense of longing, reflecting the human and Nakano’s own desire for what is out of reach – what cannot be. To express this longing, Nakano has invited remarkable singer-songwriters WAYNE SNOW, Yael Naim, and Jordy to enrich his piano melodies on Ululō, marking a shift in his creative process as he focuses on the human voice rather than movement on this album. On Ululō, Koki Nakano articulates his search for balance, embracing both the good and the bad. Acknowledging that ambiguities are an unavoidable part of life, he confronts them directly, weaving together themes of frustration, desire, romance, beauty, and light.
