Songs From the Sea (Independent)

Hazal Selçuk is an independent artist and regularly releases new music on Spotify along with monthly videos on her Youtube channel. She started her musical journey at a young age as a singer, frequently performing throughout Turkey and abroad with her father, the Turkish composer/performer Timur Selçuk who was widely known for his hit songs and compositions for piano, film, theater, opera, ballet, chamber music as well as symphonic orchestra. Hazal represented Turkey at the Eurovision Song Contest and attended the Center for Contemporary Music in Istanbul, the State Conservatory of Vienna, and the Boston Conservatory, where she began developing original works performed in North America, Turkey and Europe.

J Michael Grey is a composer/pianist and was involved in the early development of digital music technologies for synthesis, sampling, recording and production. He co-founded CCRMA, the Stanford center for computer music, and was involved in the development of the new music center IRCAM in Paris.

George Marsh is a percussionist who has performed and recorded with Denny Zeitlin, The David Grisman Quintet/Sextet, Jerry Garcia, John Abercrombie, Mose Allison, Joe Henderson, Harold Land, Terry Riley, William Allaudin Mathieu, Pauline Oliveros, Kronos Quartet, Mel Martin & many others.

Hazal, John, and George previously collaborated on the album of ten Kurt Weill songs, “Destination Youkali”. Their current work, an EP of three “Songs from the Sea” is subtitled “Jazzy Waters.”
