Aakash Sridhar is a pianist from Bangalore, India who was drawn to the world of jazz and improvisation as it offered him a creative platform to communicate his thoughts and feelings. His sensitive relationship to the piano serves as a medium for expressing honest emotions through unique, fresh, and captivating melodies throughout life’s uncertainties.
Currently based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, he quickly established himself in the local music scene after earning a Master’s Degree in Jazz Piano from the University of North Texas.
His debut album ‘Revived Emotions’ is a collection of modern jazz compositions written over the last two years, inspired by the depth and nuance of everyday emotions.
For example, ‘Reflections Of Yesterday’ reflects on the choices we make and how they shape who we are. The piece features a melody that drifts across various key centres, while a steady quarter-note pulse maintains the composition’s structural consistency.
‘My Home’, on the other hand, employs melody and harmony to convey the impact of family and meaning of ‘home’. The improvisation seamlessly incorporates the Hamsadhvani raag.
‘Sunsets’ is a song about friendships. While the nature of friendships evolves over time due to circumstances beyond our control, the memories remain eternal – just like the beauty of a sunset.
‘Stop Chasing’ was originally inspired by the poem ‘Leisure’ by W. H. Davies and written as a response to it. The song encourages listeners not to become overly consumed by chasing goals, but instead to appreciate the present moment.
‘A Spark’ was inspired by a special connection, while ‘Revival’ represents the essence of a new beginning.
