TOBIN MUELLER has remastered nine tracks from his award winning album, RAIN BATHER, and the result displays his effortless compositional style and marvelous arranging chops. Mueller is the band leader on B3 organ, but he lets his players take the spotlight, highlighting each musician’s unique talents. Three tracks feature his 9-piece ensemble, while the others pick from a variety of smaller combinations. Some of the best performances include: Woody Mankowski’s soprano sax on the funky “Cliff’s Edge” , Bill Barner’s clarinet on “Secret of Life”, Blue Note drummer Dane Richeson’s solo on “Finding No Path”, and Doug Schneider’s tenor sax on “Waltzing Nigh Into Day”. Fresh contemporary jazz compositions that fit in with the best eras of the last 50 years.
Mueller has recorded with Grammy winners Dave Brubeck, Ron Carter, Michael Hedges, Donny McCaslin, Jon Anderson (from Yes), Brian Welch (“Head” from Korn), Bob Lanzetti (founding member of Snarky Puppy), Carl Fischer, Sal Giorgianni, Roy Agee, as well as Grammy nominees Dane Richeson (Blue Note Records), Ken Schaphorst (founding member of Boston-based Jazz Composers Alliance), Noah Hoffeld (Brad Mehldau) and more. He has collaborated with Grammy winner and Blues Hall of Fame guitarist Paul Nelson as well as drummer Scott Rockenfield. “Rain Bather” is an excellent example of Mueller’s cross-genre style.
