ALEX PERTOUT is a Chilean born Australian award-winning percussionist, composer, educator, recording artist and producer. His creative studio percussive touch has graced hundreds of albums and motion picture soundtracks, including iconic Australian number one hits such as ‘The Horses’ by Daryl Braithwaite and ‘My Happiness’ by Powderfinger. As a versatile percussionist he has also attained credits as a member of television orchestras, theatre orchestras, in countless live performances as well as a respected academic. In tandem he has developed a personal creative artistic career as a multi-instrumentalist recording artist, composer, producer and ensemble leader.
As a founding member of the acclaimed Australian Art Orchestra he has toured Europe, North America, Asia and Oceania, has performed as a soloist with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, has recording, performance and television orchestra credits with an array of artists including Paul Kelly, Badi Assad, James Morrison, Casiopea, Little River Band w/John Farnham, Archie Roach, Hunters & Collectors, Goanna, The Black Sorrows, Dave Valentin, Ute Lemper, Charlelie Couture, Redgum, Tommy Emmanuel, Tina Arena, Shane Howard, Kate Ceberano, Tom E Lewis and Mondo Rock among many others. His productions which feature his original compositions and performances by outstanding international guests including Mike Stern, Tom Coster, Tommy Emmanuel, Mark Levine, Raul Rekow, Hossam Ramzy, Pancho Amat, Dave Valentín, David Jones and Miroslav Bukovsky to name a few, have received critical acclaim and won a ‘Premio Internacional’ at the 2015 Cuban Music Awards (Cubadisco).
