Janet Grice and Paulo Siqueira: Proesas For Bassoon (Janet Grice)

Janet Grice is one of few to play Brazilian jazz on the bassoon. Though she’s lived in New York for over 35 years, her musical soul resides in Rio de Janeiro. She began playing Brazilian music in high school, and frequent trips to Brazil resulted in numerous recordings, gigs and teaching opportunities. With a doctoral dissertation in Brazilian bassoon music, she is an expert in both classical and popular idioms. She performed in Brazil, Europe, and the USA with her groups, and with Don Cherry, Butch Morris and Karl Berger, recording for her own label and with many jazz artists.
