Born and raised in The Hague – The Netherlands 1987, Tom was brought up in a musical family and quickly became an internationally successful jazz-saxophonist. He has won several prestigious awards such as the Prinses Christina Concours, Melkweg Jazz Award and most recently the Sena Jazz Award. Tom attended the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, studied in New York during his master’s program and finished his master’s summa cum laude (mark 9,5) plus an extra distinction. One of the highlights of his career is the recently released album ‘’Introducing Tom van der Zaal featuring NYC guitarist Peter Bernstein’’.
