Jumaane Smith, acclaimed Trumpeter, Vocalist, and long-time band member/featured guest artist with Michael Bublé is releasing his much-anticipated third album, Come on Home, on August 16, 2024 on the Zinn Music record label. Comprised of mostly original works by Jumaane Smith, this deeply emotional album seamlessly traverses jazz, blues, and contemporary soul, with nostalgic echoes of classic albums from those genres. Jumaane Smith’s critically-acclaimed debut album, “I Only Have Eyes For You,” featured special guests Michael Bublé, Jackie Evancho, and Naturally 7, and his sophomore album, “When You’re Smiling,” was released to
much praise in January 2020.
Jazz trumpeter, vocalist, and composer Jumaane Smith has performed on 5 GRAMMY Award- winning records (selling more than 60 million copies), 2 Emmy Award- nominated TV performances, the GRAMMY Awards with Stevie Wonder, in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story (trumpet solo), at The White House, on the Today Show, Tonight Show, Oprah, Good Morning America, and American Idol.
Jumaane has worked with musical legends such as Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock, Aretha Franklin, Christian McBride, Kamasi Washington, Alicia Keys, Jon Batiste, and many more. He has spent the last 18 years touring and recording with Michael Bublé as lead trumpeter and vocalist and featured soloist, with solo performances at major stadiums and arenas internationally, including Madison Square Garden/NYC, 02 Arena/London, Budweiser Gardens Arena/Ontario, Allianz Stadium/Sydney, Croke Park Stadium/Dublin, BST Hyde Park/London, Nippon Budokan Arena/Japan, and more. He was a member of Harry Connick Jr.’s house band for the syndicated daytime TV show “Harry,” and the featured guest soloist for Jackie Evancho’s, “Songs of the Silver Screen” world tour backed by a 60-piece symphony orchestra.
As leader for his own band, Jumaane has toured to such world-class venues as Jazz At Lincoln Center, Birdland Jazz Club, Vail Jazz Festival, Java Jazz Festival, North Star Festival, Joe’s Pub, Rochester International Jazz Festival, Catalina Island Jazz Festival, and many more.
As a composer, Smith has scored music for films such as “Handsome Harry” (starring
Steve Buscemi and Jamey Sheridan) and the documentary “Being in the World,” as well as for his own recordings and the interactive sheet music company Tomplay.
As a full scholarship recipient at the Juilliard School of Music’s inaugural class of the Jazz Studies program, Wynton Marsalis was Smith’s primary trumpet teacher.
