Boni de Souza from Singapore first published his debut jazz album “Eau de Vie” in 2000 to a great review in the local press by notable Straits Times Music critic Whang Shang Yin. Years later he re-released it as a 21st Anniversary Album. The title track, an original by Boni de Souza, “Eau de Vie” was chosen as song of the day in Sep 2021 and the album hit No 1 on the new releases chart in JAZZIZ Magazine. He has composed various jazz originals like Eau de Vie, Bossa for You, Baroque Chaser, Wanna make you happy, B is for Bossa, Contemplation and Dawn, as well as inspirational songs like Blessings & Wishes – used in the album “Cantate Domino”. Between 1995-2001 he performed with jazz bassist Victor Gaskin who lived in Singapore till 2008. Boni is also known as an arranger-producer for various local artistes. In 2021 he released 3 albums – jUST jAZZ jIVE in January feat vocalist Richard Jackson and Flautist Wendy Low, Spring is Here feat Boni de Souza with Strings and Twist on Classics featuring classical tunes given a fresh arrangement by Boni. He continues to be a well established music educator in Singapore and producing Arts Education Programs for schools and colleges in association with the National Arts Council since 2004. Using the pandemic down time in 2020-2022 he furthered his pedagogical studies which earned him an MA in Arts Pedagogy, he now continues as a well established music educator in Singapore. From time to time he performs shows with his group jUST jAZZ jIVE at venues like the Esplanade (Jazz in July) Blujaz and Cool Cats and continues to present Arts Education Programs in educational instituitions.
