JAZZ ROOTS, the concert series of the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County, Florida, will kick off the holiday season with the annual Dave Koz Christmas Tour on November 26. This year marks the 19th anniversary of saxophonist Koz’s tour, which has become a Christmas tradition.
Dean Shelly Berg, Artistic director of JAZZ ROOTS, stated in a press release: “Dave is absolutely one of the most engaging and exciting performers you will ever see and he is joined by a stellar line-up of very special guests.” The line-up will, in fact, feature Jonathan Butler, Valerie Simpson and Kenny Lattimore.
JAZZ ROOTS also features Sound Check, an in-depth partnership with Miami-Dade County Public School which has brought more than 8,000 high school music students to the Center at its concerts and events for a complimentary and unique behind-the-scenes experience.
“With a multi-faceted career as a recording artist, humanitarian, radio host, entrepreneur and instrumental music advocate, Dave Koz is a shining example for the young students participating in our Sound Check educational program,” said Liz Wallace, VP Programming of the Arsht Center.
