Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Miles and ‘Trane Festival, May 12-15

New York’s Jazz at Lincoln Center will present their Miles and ‘Trane Festival from May 12-15. The event will honor 90th birthdays of Miles Davis and John Coltrane.

The festival kicks off with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra playing new arrangements of classic compositions by  Davis, in a concert titled “Miles Davis: The Sorcerer at 90.” On May 13, saxophonist Joe Lovano will present “The Spiritual Side of Coltrane,” with a band featuring John’s son Ravi on saxophone. Another highlight of the festival will occur when Kenyon Harrold takes the stage with his own tribute to Davis. Harrold was the ghost trumpeter in Don Cheadle’s film Miles Ahead.

The Miles and ‘Trane Festival will take place throughout three different venues in New York City: the Rose Theater, the Appel Room and Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola. For more information, visit http://www.jazz.org/
