B-Jazz is a jazz competition held in Belgium, aimed at international musicians under 30. It is organised by Muziekmozaïek, in collaboration with the cultural center 30CC and OPEK, as part of the Leuven Jazz Festival.
The finalists of this year’s B-Jazz International Contest will be announced on January 21.
In addition, this year, B-Jazz has launched a Jazz Composition Contest and is calling for composers to submit their work for the chance to win 2,000 euros. In addition, the winner will be invited to be a jury member for the next two editions of the B-Jazz Composition Contest. The winning composition will also be interpreted and performed by the finalists in the B-Jazz Contest in OPEK, Leuven on March 18-19 during the Leuven Jazz Festival. The best interpretation will be awarded a prize.
The contest is open to participants of all nationalities born on or after January 1, 1986. Each participant can send in only one composition or theme. The composition should be entered as a score, maximum three-pages long, and accompanied by a demo recording of the composition in MP3 quality or better.
The compositions will be blindfold judged. Therefore, there can’t be any information on the score other than the title of the composition. Personal data should be sent in an e-mail, which must include first name, last name, full address, date of birth, phone number, e-mail address and a copy of an ID.
The deadline for submissions is February 15, 2016 and full information can be found on http://www.b-jazz.be/
