2016 Blue Note Jazz Festival line-up announced

The line-up of the 6th Blue Note Jazz Festival has been announced. This year’s edition will run from the 1st to the 30th of June, and will take place in 10 different venues throughout New York City.

Some of the highlights of its over 100 events include a show by saxophonist Kamasi Washington co-presented with City Parks Foundation at Central Park SummerStage and a rare New York Theater performance by vocalist Al Jarreau. Also featured in the program is the return of salsa bandleader and singer Gilberto Santa Rosa to Carnagie Hall.

Keyboardist Robert Glasper will be taking to the stage for different shows; one with his trio, another in a duo with pianist Jason Moran and a third in a duo with Taylor McFerrin plus special guests.

The festival will also showcase a number of different collaborations, from the power trio of John Scofield, Brad Mehldau and Mark Giuliana to three different groups led distinctively by pianist McCoy Tynes, bassist Ron Carter and drummer Roy Haynes.
